J. Jay Boyd

Want to know more about J. Jay Boyd? Here's what he has to say about himself:

I always wanted to be a comedian as far back as I can remember. I have the memory capacity of a goldfish but that's neither here or...or...well you get the point. In 2nd grade they had us write a story about what we wanted to do when we grew up. Grown up? You mean like in 6th grade?? I wrote "sell insurance"(that's what my dad does and what 2nd grader would want to risk a long term injury at recess without the proper coverage) and comedy. Well I went to Hofstra University for business.  My dad still maintains I majored in lunch... and after leaving after three years, proceeded to get all necessary licenses for a future in finance. (The school and I figured ONE of us had to go and I felt it would be easier for me...) After a few years working with my mom and dad, I felt as if it might not be the field for me. The money was incredible but I felt like I just didn't fit. Like an obese man on a roller coaster. Sure you'll squeeze into the car....but will you REALLY enjoy the ride?

I had done a few open mic nights dating back to college. But never really gave it a real chance.  So I decided that in my spare time I'd give it a shot and started doing open mic nights. I took improv classes at the East Side Comedy Club owned by Richie Minervini.   He saw something in me ...hey he used to drink so it might've been the booze talking [KIDDING!]...and told management that I was to be given stage time anytime I showed up at the club. And my path was almost cemented.

On a cold winter night in January of 1999 I left a mic night at a club and headed home. As I was about to cross over a parkway bridge I was wondering why it was raining and not snowing at 28 degrees outside. And that's when I hit a sheet of black ice and spun out of control.  I couldn't get control back so I put my head back and just hoped for the best.

As the car hit dirt it straightened out and went in between two trees. I turned an expensive European car into a decorative planter. I had a tree branch in my passenger seat. Six inches in either direction I was certainly dead. Six inches.

It took me the rest of the year to wrap my head around what had happened. And how truly lucky I was to walk away with not even a scratch. And when New Years 2000 hit I decided. I was going to change the direction of my life. I decided comedy would be my future. Now to get busy so the rest of the world would know about my choice. I got rid of my car. I got rid of my apartment. My girlfriend got rid of me. And my path had been reset.... just a few short years later and I have been to all 48 lower states..Canada. Bahamas.  Cruise Ships. Clubs. Theaters. And I avoid ice now at all costs. I don't even go to hockey games.
I'm a comedian.

I've been described by many as a one man sitcom. Using facial expressions, body language and yes, even jokes... I will take you on a memorable journey thru the world I perceives I live in. Having performed in 48 states, Canada, Bahamas, and traveled across the country countless times, there isn't much I haven't seen.  And with boundless energy and passion, I can't wait to share it all with you. From adult humor to family friendly, I will make you laugh.

Doug Canney

Doug Canney is National Touring Comic and former 80’s traveling musician, Doug has been on stage since 13. Traveling on both coasts every year, his Comedy and Music have entertained in Bars, Nightclubs, Comedy Clubs and Corporate events since 2005. His whacked out way of interpreting others behavior, years on the road with a band added with a string of unsuccessful relationships encompass the angst in Doug’s life. New York City Comic and Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker Reality Show participant John McClellan said “Doug has the ability to pull the funny out of decisions that should NOT have been made”.

Doug grew up in the South primarily but spent time up North with relatives every year. This influence shapes a good portion of his style and occasionally, you’ll hear the “Red Neck” come out in him. He has worked with Comedians from Comedy Central, HBO, BET, Letterman and the Tonight Show and can be seen in the Dark Comedy “The Brannigan Account”. Doug Canney came into comedy after working as a musician for 22 years. He did stand-up with the band, and started touring in 2010 as full-time comedian. “I only started to get good at it last week,” says Doug.

Canney is first a Southern boy from rural North Carolina, where you’re either funny or you work on a farm with goats,” he says. “I taught guitar and bass for 20 years and went to music school, becoming a professional traveling musician in 1981. “I thought I was going to change the world. I did not. Former 80’s touring musician and current nationally touring comedian, Doug has been entertaining people with his music and comedy since his early teens. Doug’s first stand-up performances were impromptu, off the cuff sets when all hell would break loose during a band show. “The first time I did 15 minutes of stand-up was when our drummer had an asthma attack at the end of the song ‘Hot For Teacher’. I knew right then, I loved stand-up and we probably needed a new drummer”.

Living in his car for most of the year, doing over 300 shows and setting his personal record of 9500 miles in 21 days, he’s the epitome of the old school “road-dog” comedian. He’s been called the “human energy drink” and his sometimes spastic performances reflect this well-deserved moniker. “In a lot of tough situations, my sense of humor got me out of it,” Canney says. “Whenever a breaker would blow or a light would pop, I had my ‘magic 12’ — 12 minutes of stand-up that would normally work.” When he turned 40, Canney realized he couldn’t play Van Halen and ’80s music his whole life. Canney feels he is weird for a stand-up comedian to really have a passion for Slapstick is what’s really funny to him. Doug is high energy; not dirty; looks crazy doing a lot of one-liners and self-deprecating stuff.

Roots and Soul singer/songwriter/guitarist Brandon Reeves has spent most of his time and energy performing 150 to 200 dates a year since 2008. Brandon's music is a cross between the guitar playing of John Hurt, the songwriting wit of John Prine and the soulful vocals of Sam Cooke. He has also shared the stage with Tab Benoit, Mark Rivera of Hall and Oates band and Ringo Starr's All Star Band, and members of the Zac Brown Band. Tom Wardman of Red Label Reviews said of his latest release, A Decent Melody, "His album offers so many different musical genres within the album itself, but also within independent tunes. It's Bluesy. It's groovy, It's Rocky. It's quite frankly awesome – I have no words to describe it! For that reason, you should check out his work yourself!"

Mikey Mason

Born in Kentucky and dragged throughout the south before settling in Indiana to be
raised in a trailer, Mikey Mason has a diverse background to draw material from. With  his abnormal childhood, five siblings, two marriages, two children, multiple pets, college experiences, and many career changes (ranging from fast food, to working at  a funeral home, to teaching middle school, high school and college, as well as working with at-risk youth,) he’s got a lot to talk—and sing—about.

Mikey went from performing in bands and sketch and improv comedy troupes to performing  standup over the last 15 years. He’s performed at Crackers, the Comedy Caravan, Wiley’s  Comedy Niteclub, Snickerz Comedy Bar, Mason City Limits, Go Bananas, and One Liners, as  well as many bars, clubs, fraternities, and private parties in and around the Midwest. He’s  performed with Todd Yohn, John Fox, Rob Haney, Lord Carrett, Steve Iott, Troy Davis, Chris  Speyrer, Tracey Tedesco, and Tim Rowlands, among others, and has made multiple regional  television and radio appearances. With a strong stage presence, infectiously hilarious songs,  and a wit almost as fast as his mouth, Mikey is an unforgettable performer.

Mikey draws the audience in with his saucy, irreverent blend of storytelling and outrageous songs. No subject or musical style is off limits. From country to rock, pop to rap, religion to relationships, politics to childhood insecurities, Mikey is unabashed, unafraid, and unquestionably funny.

Travis Howze

Travis Howze is an internationally touring comedian and motivational speaker who spent 14 years in the military and emergency services as a U.S. Marine, Police Officer and Firefighter. Whether performing at corporate events and fundraisers to top comedy clubs, colleges and multiple tours overseas for our troops, Travis has become a comedic demand in multiple arena’s and always leaves his audiences craving more!

Known as the military and emergency services voice of comedy, the topics of Travis’ humor are limitless: from being raised in South Carolina to married life and fatherhood to his time in uniform and much more. Whether dodging bullets, chasing bad guys, or running into burning buildings, Travis is always FUNNY UNDER FIRE!

Travis’ unique brand of comedy has landed him appearances on AXS-TV’s Gotham Comedy Live, National Geographic’s Brain Games, and NBC’s Late Shift with Kevin Ferguson. He has also been voted Stand Up Comedy’s Mouth of the South, and Charleston, South Carolina’s Funniest Person. In March of 2015 his Comedy Album “Reporting for Duty” debuted in the top 10 of iTunes top 100 comedy albums, and can be heard regularly on Sirius XM, Pandora and iHeart Radio.

Travis loved his 8 ½ year career as a firefighter in Charleston, South Carolina. But a real-life tragedy brought it to an abrupt end. In June 2007, he was heavily involved in a warehouse fire that claimed the lives of 9 of his brother firefighters – all whom were his friends. Assigned to the team that went inside the warehouse to recover his fallen brothers, his life would never be the same. Overcome with Survivor’s Guilt, Major Depression and Post Traumatic Stress, his symptoms became so severe that it cost him his career in the fire service.

Using the age old adage, laughter is the best medicine, Travis was able to regain his footing and find his new calling in life as a comedian and motivational speaker. He now tours the world 30 weeks per year sharing his story and more through the joy of laughter.

This is truly a great comedian who has a unique ability to make you think differently, question cultural and personal beliefs- all while being incredibly funny. Seriously spit-take funny. Tom’s goal as a comedian is not just to be funny and make you laugh, but to genuinely be one of the best- to be mentioned in the same sentence with greats like Chappelle, Rock, Carlin, Seinfeld.

Come see this show and see what constant work and dedication means. Tom’s comedy takes chances that most comedians won’t take all while embracing the audience and genuinely caring that they laugh and enjoy themselves. The show will entertain with subjects from being a new father and relationships, to socially relevant issues like violence, war, racism, and frustrations we all have with the world and one another. It is easily relatable and seriously funny... Like a Blue Collar Tour for people that read.

He has appeared on Comedy Central, Showtime, BET, NBC, and has written for numerous comedians. Tracks from all four of his comedy CD’s can be heard daily on both XM and Sirius radio. He has appeared on Bob and Tom, at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, The Boston Comedy Festival, as well as performing with Comics on Duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ben Jones

Ben Jones is one of the fastest rising comics on the road today. After burning his cream sauce one too many times Ben dropped out of Culinary school to pursue his passion of entertaining others, feeling much more at home cooking up laughs than pork loin.

This self proclaimed slacker bet everything on a career in stand-up and fortunately the gamble paid off. Touring relentlessly across the country he brings a level of likeability that is matched by very few. He combines well written material and a dark sense of humor with a charisma that allows him to get away with almost anything.

Using his own life experiences to make silly observations and odd scenarios, he makes audiences laugh hysterically from the time this giant teddy bear hits the stage until he says goodnight. He's built a first-rate name for himself in the comedy business by working some of the top clubs in the country (and a few at the bottom) sharing the stage with great comics such as Bob Saget, Rob Schneider, Maria Bamford, Jon Reep, Adam Devine, Dov Davidoff and SNL's Jay Pharoah. Come see Ben and be a part of this memorable, fun and above all hilarious comedy experience. Ben Jones is not to be missed.
